3. International Compendia: BP, USP, Ph.Eur. & Anatomy of a Monograph
Beyond the IP, major international pharmacopoeias include the British Pharmacopoeia (BP, published annually by the MHRA in the UK), the United States Pharmacopeia–National Formulary (USP-NF, published annually by the United States Pharmacopeial Convention), and the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.). A Pharmacopoeial Monograph is a structured, standardized entry for a specific chemical substance or formulated product containing: Title, Chemical Formula & Molecular Weight, Definition/Category, Description (appearance, solubility), Identification Tests, Impurity / Limit Tests, Assay Method, and Packaging & Storage Instructions.
